So I had my first “real” lucid dream today. I’ve had two before (several months back) but they only lasted a few seconds and I didn’t get a chance to do anything cool. Today though, after a long day of skiing, I was knocked out cold at 9:00pm. I didn’t even have time to give myself the suggestion of “I will remember my dream” or “I will check for reality”.

This was also a very very weird dream start. I remember having a dream and then pausing it. I dream mostly in 3rd person and this dream was third person. I paused a mountain scene (which most probably came from the fact that I wam skiing in large Vermont mountains). I said to myself “I don’t want a lucid dream in 3rd person” and BAM, I see the mountain in first person.

The scene changes to my room from about 4 years ago (moved since then). I automatically realize that this is a dream because I was able to change from third to first person view. I went up to a digital clock, checked it twice and the numbers became all scrambled. Went lucid. I tingling sensation sweeps my body and I feel wonderful.

I didn’t get much accomplished. I jumped and floated down, walked around my room, woke up my brother who was sleeping in the same room, and then I woke up.

Thats my short story. I promised you guys a lucid dreaming post but instead I’ll link you to a great resource.

Lucid All Night

Start off my reading how to make your dreams more vivid. Then start the lucid dreaming guides.

To improve dream recall, all I did was tell myself “I will remember all my dreams” and end up waking up several times a night (after each dream cycle). To remember to do reality checks when you see dream signs, try anchoring. Self-hypnosis with direct suggestions of “I will perform a reality check when I see _____ dream sign” should make it easier to perform reality checks.

So check out the blog above for some great lucid dreaming guides.
